- The Republic of Altai in Russia is part of the Siberian Federal District and is located in the center of Eurasia, south of Western Siberia. It borders Kazakhstan to the southwest (505 km), China to the south (55 km), and Mongolia to the southeast (290 km). Within Russia, the Republic of Tuva, the Republic of Khakassia, the Altai Region, and the Kemerovo Region are its neighbors.
