Background and purpose
- Vocational education is an important means of nurturing diverse talent, promoting regional economic development, and facilitating people-to-people exchanges. Its importance has grown further in recent years amid increasing interregional cooperation and international exchanges. In particular, the internationalization of vocational education has established itself as an important foundation for expanding industrial cooperation and promoting mutual understanding among regions.
- Gansu Province is actively promoting the qualitative development of modern vocational education and industry-academia cooperation, and has excellent educational infrastructure, including the Lanzhou New Area Vocational Education Park. In addition, recognizing the high potential for mutually complementary cooperation arising from the different strengths and distinctive characteristics of vocational education systems across Northeast Asia, Gansu Province established the Vocational Education Subcommittee.
- The Vocational Education Subcommittee aims to establish a cooperation platform that links policy exchanges among NEAR member governments, educational resources sharing, and talent development. It also seeks to strengthen the connection between vocational education and the needs of local industries and jointly nurture skilled professionals equipped with international competencies and intercultural understanding, thereby contributing to regional economic and social development.

- Expanding vocational education exchange and cooperation
- Hold a regular vocational education subcommittee
- Hold vocational education development forum and share policies and development directions for vocational education among member governments
- Strengthening exchange of education resources and skilled professionals
- Discuss vocational education development measures through exchange between experts and scholars
- Co-develop and share educational courses and education resources
- Nurturing young technical specialists and exchange
- Organize innovation and skills competitions for vocational school students and young technical specialists in Northeast Asia
- Expand exchanges of young technical talent among member governments
- Promoting Industry-Academia Cooperation and International Vocational Education Programs
- Strengthen cooperation among member governments, vocational schools, and businesses, focusing on emerging industries such as new energy
- Jointly plan and operate short-term training course, semester student exchange and overseas field-training programs
