2019 Northeast Asia Young Leaders Forum Successfully Held in Russia2019-07-15

The 2019 Northeast Asia Young Leaders Forum which was co-hosted by NEAR Secretariat and Krasnoyarsk Territory was held at a BIRYUSA camp site in Krasnoyarsk, located in the middle of Siberia. Sixty attendees from twenty-one NEAR members and six hundred local Russian youth participated in the forum.

This forum, which is organized by the NEAR Secretariat, celebrated its fourth run and was held in Russia for the first time at the request of Krasnoyarsk Territory, which has been running camps focusing on youth policy since 2006. It consisted of lectures and discussions on a variety of topics concentrating on nurturing a global mindset among the young leaders responsible for the future of Northeast Asia.

A notable attendee was Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation who gave a celebratory message. Kim Ok-chae, Secretary General of NEAR called all those present to be main players of Northeast Asia in the 21st century, the era of peace, through the cultivation of tolerance based on an understanding of cultural diversity and mutual respect.

Meanwhile, Kim Ok-chae, Secretary General of NEAR held a meeting with the Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory, Aleksandr Uss, before the opening ceremony, thanking Krasnoyarsk Territory’s for their active participation in NEAR’s international events. He also requested for executives to be dispatched to the Working Committee which will be held this August.
