Kemerovo Region, Russia, Holds the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum from May 24 to 252021-06-02

NEAR Secretary General Kim Ok-chae delivered a congratulatory message via video at the opening ceremony in the session titled, “The role of women in a changing world: Covid-19,” at the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum hosted by Russian member Kemerovo Region on May 24.


In his speech, Mr. Kim stated that there had been discussions on women’s enhanced roles between NEAR members. He also said that, going forward, the forum would contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and trust between Northeast Asian regional governments.


The Second Eurasian Women’s Forum is a large-scale international event sponsored by the Russian Federation Council and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. In this year’s forum, there were discussions on themes such as “The expansion of women’s economic potential in the global challenge era.” The forum was conducted both online and offline due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It attracted over 2,000 participants offline and over 100,000 participants online from 15 countries.
