NEAR Secretariat Visits Korea-Japan Calligraphy Exhibition Held in Busan, South Korea2021-11-17

On November 16, NEAR Secretary-General Kim Ok-chae and the Secretariat staff visited the Korea-Japan Calligraphy Exhibition, co-hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan in Busan and Tongmyong University in Busan. The exhibition will run from November 13 to 19. There, Mr. Kim met with Consul-General Maruyama Kohei and President Chun Ho-hwan of Tongmyong University.


Mr. Kim commended Mr. Maruyama on planning an event for cultural exchange at a time when face-to-face exchange has been limited due to COVID-19. Mr. Kim mentioned the Art·Poster Contests for Youths in Northeast Asia held by NEAR and the increasing number of applicants each year.


The theme of the exhibition is “South Korea and Japan Walk Together, Asking Calligraphy for Directions,” A total of 55 calligraphic works by Consul-General Maruyama and President Chun were on display, demonstrating their abilities cultivated over a long time. The exhibition received favorable responses from visitors.
