Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Holds 2nd Annual International Symposium2007-08-07

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Province is inviting experts and researchers in the field of beans, foreign and domestic, as a move to strengthen the innovative capabilities of the Biotechnology industry in the Gyeongbuk region and as an act of globalization against the FTA. This will provide the Food and Medicine industry, as well as, the Bio Energy industry grounds for transferring international technology and sharing knowledge. Also, to entice the Bean research facility, the Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Research Center (Director Kim, Hyeong-kuk) has held the 2nd International Symposium on the June 29 this year

Dr. Bae, Geung-geun, Production and Industry, of the Pulmoowon Co. presented how Korean uses beans in the Food industry.

In the 2nd session, Dr. Gerhard presented the use of beans in the production of Bio Diesel technology and the U.S. Bio Diesel Industry Strategy, and Dr. Lee, Jin-seuk of the KIER (Korean Institute of Energy Research) lectured on the current status and outlook of Koreas Bio Energy.

A look at the current conditions and prospective of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provinces Bio Industry indicates Bio Industry as a way to use living organisms commercially and utilizing the functions and information from the organisms to produce and develop necessary materials for the better of mankind. In short, Bio Industry is a future commerce based on state-of-the art scientific technology creating environmental friendly, energy sufficient high-end values. Bio Industry research in Korea has been fully operative from mid 1990 due to the budget support department of the central government and the under research facilities.
