History

  • 1356 : Renamed Chungcheong-do Province.
  • 1896 : Chungcheongnam-do Province is established by being separated from Chungcheongbuk-do Province as the 13-province system is introduced under Article 36 of the Imperial Command.
  • 1932 : The provincial office is relocated from Gongju to Daejeon.
  • 2012 : Yeongi County, and Janggi Township, Uidang Township, and Banpo Township of Gongju City are separated and promoted to Sejong Special Self-Governing City.
  • 2013 : The provincial office is relocated from Daejeon to Naepo New City. (Currently eight cities and seven counties)

Regional Characteristics

Since it is geographically in the center of South Korea, Chungcheongnam-do Province is the transportation hub of the three southern provinces of South Korea, and it is connected to Youngnam and Honam.
