History
- 1618: The Russians started moving to what is today’s Kemerovo Region to form Kuznetsk Towns.
- 1721: Mihailo Volkov, a mining company, developed the first mine in what is today’s Kemerovo City.
- Early 20th Century: Mining and steelmakers were established and operated.
- 1943: The highest council of the Soviet Union separated Kemerovo Region from the Kuznetsk coal mines of Novosibirsk Oblast.

- Kemerovo Region is located to the southeast of West Siberia and near the center of the Russian Federation. The Kuznetsk Mines are geographically in the center of Moscow and Vladivostok and its time zone is Greenwich Standard Time Zone +6.
